Brief Profile

In 2014 I gained my CELTA qualification from Basil Paterson College in Edinburgh. That year, I taught both there and at the Edinburgh School of English as a tutor for the summer season, taking intensive English classes and one-to-one lessons. I also taught at the same two schools in summer 2016, and have run my own classes at the local community centre.

Prior to 2014 I had spent more than 20 years as a technical consultant in the field of scientific journal publishing.

I am an Englishman living in Edinburgh, in Scotland. I speak with a clear neutral accent. Friendly, calm and approachable, I can help you improve your English in an enjoyable and productive way in lessons, or provide expert editing and feedback for your written work.

Since mid-2017 I have been working as a freelancer for Enago/Crimson, editing scientific journal articles written by authors whose first language is not English, bringing the language up to the standard required for submission/publication.
